About
The design focused around creating a lighting fixture with a meticulous pattern that paints artistic shadows.
- Prototyping & process: Several fold patterns were hand sketched, then drawn within Rhino to laser cut upon cardstock for testing; LED lighting strips were soldered to a custom shape in an electronics lab.
- Final fabrication: The two-dimensional pattern was finalized, then used on a water jet for a precise cut; Angles were bent to create a tri-fold effect that aligns well against a wall and bounces light for a unique glow; Pencil rod was coped and welded in a pattern emulating the frontal design, for a cohesive backing.
