Wood Laminated Swan
This collaborative project focuses on creating a subtle swan form with minimal pieces and connective joints.
  • Composed of four pieces: the arched back and neck, the upper head and beak, the double-sided wings, and a flat bottom with tailfeathers.
  • Prototyping & process: Small scale wooden molds were carved; layers of chipboard were hand cut and glued together before vacuum forming.
  • Final fabrication: Full scale foam molds were carved, and four layers of plywood veneer were laser cut, per shape, along various grains for a sturdy hold. Veneers layers were glued, vacuum sealed, precisely carved and sanded, all before lightly dusting with white paint and clear finish.
